Editor’s Message April 2021

This month’s Westbrook Village Living has me reflecting on all the individuals and organizations that come together to make this community such a great place to live and work. I would like to start with congratulating Gabe Rivas at the Links Neighborhood Grill for winning the Mayor’s Restaurant of the Month. Gabe has made this a welcoming spot for residents and golfers alike. I have never had a bad meal there! It is fun to go to a place where friends and neighbors can gather–especially after this past year.

There are two opportunities to contribute to St. Mary’s Food Bank this month also. Westbrook Cares is collecting food at the neighborhood mailboxes on Wednesday April 7 (see page 8 for details). Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty is sponsoring a Shred Day on April 10 to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank also (see details in the Russ Lyon Sotheby’s ad on page 35). We are so fortunate to live a life without worries about going hungry. Let’s get out and help those less fortunate. Many of our neighbors have been hit hard by the pandemic and donating food is needed more than ever.

Check out the Computer Clubs advice for staying safe online and on your phone and the Posse’s advice when leaving your home for the summer. On page 6 read about Mike Frye, WV Golf Pro, who gives lessons and clinics at the Vistas. I am a new golfer, and his lessons and clinic gave me the confidence to get out and golf. I highly recommend Mike to anyone wanting to learn or improve their golf game. He is a very patient instructor– and an amazing golfer.

There are numerous adventures to partake in April and the weather is fabulous this time of year. The Hiking Club has wonderful hikes planned, the golf groups are in full swing, pickleball players are having a blast and so much more. Check out all the club details on page 22 and 23 of the magazine. It is invigorating to get out and try something new!
